Looking back, so it has been around 9 months since I last updated something in this space. Sometimes, I really do have the urge to blog, but well however laziness just took over me. Sorry for neglecting you my dear blog. Basically, I am just too bored today so I thought to myself that I might as well update something here to kill time, also it has been like decades ago since I last scribbled something here. I guess it's going to be a long post today, since I really have nothing to do and got so much stuffs to talk about.

Around the early April, I went to Singapore to handle the school's stuff, such as enrolment, payment of school fees, checking-in to my accommodation. After I am done with all of that, the only thing that I need to do is to wait. On the 14th of April, we had our Freshmen Orientation Programme. It lasted for 3 days from the 14th to 16th. So to summarize it all, basically we had briefing, games, competitions, mass dance, party during the FOP. It was not exactly a very good moment/experience for me, as I didn't really made any friends there, maybe because my group is a bit awkward, I guess we are just unable to break that ice so things were not really fun as it was supposed to be. Something memorable from this FOP would be its Jam n Hop, it is actually some sort of cheer competition/dance party/clubbing time in our own school's lawn. Everyone was really hyped towards the end, by dancing, jumping, forming human train like nobody's business. And something worth to be mentioned is that my school which is School of Hospitality (SOH) won the Principal's Cup. The director of our school, as well as our senior are very excited and touched at the thought of it, they said it has been like few years back then since they won the P Cup. Oh right, and prior to that we had International Student's Immersion Programme, it was either on 11th or 12th of April, couldn't really remember when is it. Well, this is just another usual orientation programme, the only difference is that only international students get to participate in it, I guess the objective of this programme is to help the international student to be able to adapt better and to make friends from the same country they came from. Basically, it was just another standardized programme, just those games and stuffs, nothing really stands out though. Overall, I think the fun thing in these programmes is that we get to learn different kind of cheers, and it is really fun whenever a group starts to chant those cheers, and waiting for the other group to tackle it with another cheer.
Finally on the 21st, we had our first day of school. Thinking back, I was pretty excited at the thought of meeting new people and learning new stuffs, however, on the other hand, I also get nervous and anxious wondering that will I be able to adapt well, will I be able to get any friends and the negative thoughts crawled in. The first day of school is fine, just that everything was still awkward, and the first week went by like that. Stepping into the second week of school, things turn out better. I became closer with my classmates, and I really liked my class! People are nice, although there is still drama ongoing, this and that, but oh well this is life, it's all about how we face it and handle it. And gradually, we grew closer and I can't deny that I enjoyed my first term very much.

So what's new for me in my RP life? Presentation, Reflection Journal, Daily Grade and Understanding Test. These 4 babes are the one who accompany me throughout my life in RP for the next 2 and a half year. We, as RP students, basically had to do presentation everyday, yes it's everyday. Unless, if we got module that practices block teaching, and I am lucky to have 2 modules in my first semester that practices block teaching, or else I'll die presenting like 123456789x. Next which is RJ, and dang this is such a burden in my life. Like seriously, we need to write RJ everyday after lesson, so in this so called reflection journal, we need to use our mind and heart and everything that you can mention to write down what have we learned for today's lesson, and how does it help in our studies, yeah something like that, I give you the freedom to interpret how it seems to be. And this RJ will contribute to our daily grade, so yeah you know now why I said that RJ is such a burden yet so important. Daily Grade, this is even more frustrating, so we are graded daily by the facilitator from our punctuality, attire, commitment and participation in class, RJ. And this sucks a big time, we need to be always in our prime condition in order to achieve an A for the day, slack a bit and there goes your A. Lastly, it will be UT. Our school had 3 UTs in a semester for each module. And this UT is another thing that will contribute to our module grade together with our daily grade. The good thing about our UT is that it is open book test. Yayyy rejoice to that, but on the side note, you can't really expect to find answers in your lecture notes, the purpose of this open book is just for you to refer back to the concepts, as we are actually more heavily tested on how we apply the concepts and solve the problem, instead of the standardized test which tell you to explain what is this and explain why is that.

And now it's my holiday period, we will start school in this upcoming 20th October. I can't wait to know who will be my new classmates, I hope to see some familiar faces though. The class roster and schedule will be out by this 13th of October though. My results were published 2 days ago, and I am very happy with it, also shocked at the same time because it was so much better than what I expected it to be.

What got me really shocked is that I got distinction for all of my modules, especially on Cognitive Processes & Problem Solving Skill and Service Quality & Professional Etiquette. I never expected that I could actually achieve this kind of result. I am really thankful that everything turns out good. The bad thing is that I am going to be so dead next semester and the upcoming years. Through this result, my parents are going to have this kind of expectation for me. And the thing is that I need to maintain this kind of result in order to achieve their expectation in order to not disappoint them. But, it is impossible yes impossible. How am I going to actually maintain a GPA 4 with all distinction for each modules throughout my years in polytechnic. I think only genius can do that, and so it left me being worried. I guess only study harder, and mugging all day is the solution to this catastrophe, yes it is a catastrophe.

Presenting my awesome Y1S1 classmates.

Our first class pictures! And yeah it was a formal attire day.

Our last day in Y1S1!

E44J at Chalet! Though not everyone made it but it was an awesome stayover!

School's affair is over. Now let's talk about work instead?
Since my arrival in Singapore, I always look forward to take up jobs and earn some bucks so that I can buy stuffs that I want. And in the third week of June, I finally had my first part-time job in Singapore. It is a job that is recommended by my classmate, Qing Ting. Up till now, I am really grateful to get this job, all thanks to her! So basically, I am working under Sports Catering Services, they are an establishment which provides catering/food in the Stadium area, such as SIS,NST, etc. It was really a great deal working there, because we are able to earn money and at the same time get to see artists/notable figures on few occasions. So far, I really enjoyed working there, and I am looking forward to more! And actually this job has some relation with the diploma I am taking which is events. So, it got me thinking that this job can actually help me in creating a good portfolio.

Lastly, talking about my life in Singapore. Well, I can say that actually there is no much difference from living in Batam. Everything is almost the same. Just that I don't get to drive in Singapore, and sometimes it is really troublesome for me to travel from a place to a place, as it takes a lot of time. Another thing is the cost of living. Living in Singapore is really expensive, a meal alone in Singapore can suffice you eating twice in Batam. Also, since I moved to Singapore, I started to splurge on foods, and apparels. I can actually spend up to $60 for a meal, that is really crazy, $60 can actually let me live for a month in Batam. Also, the price of the stuff I buy started to increase gradually. Before I always think that spending more than $50 for apparels is too pricey, but recently I just bought a bag at $109. Kill me now, because my heart is so pain at the thought of those money flying away from me. In order for me to fulfil all my needs and wants, I need to really work more often, or else I will die from financial depression. HAHAHA
Also, since I went to Singapore, I think I became a better cook. I almost cook everyday for our dinner, with my friends from Indonesia that stays in the same accommodation. And of course, I find joy in cooking. I really like to cook and enjoy the meal together. Somehow, I feel the food that was cooked by ourselves contains a homely vibe.

So long for now, I'll be back with my updates soon when I get the vibe to blog, hopefully.
